ULTRA Anchor Ring
ULTRA Anchor Ring
- Acts as a chain / rope downforce weight (sentinel / kellet).
- Improves anchoring security and reduces yawing while at anchor.
- Softens chain movement in strong gusts and increases comfort.
- Can also be used as an anchor recovery device (save / trip device).
- Provides a chance to recover an anchor jammed in rocky ground.
Product Description
1 - Chain / Rope Downforce Weight:
If you have to anchor on a short scope, you can lower the ULTRA Anchor Ring onto the chain to improve anchoring security.
When boats are anchored close together and you are getting too near to others, using the ULTRA Anchor Ring reduces the swinging radius of your boat.
If strong gusts arrive while you are at anchor, the weighted chain rises more softly, creating a shock-absorbing effect on both the anchor and the boat, reducing loads and improving comfort.
However, if the wind becomes too strong, the chain is stretched hard, and the ring can no longer provide enough downforce, you should switch to a longer scope.
As a rule of thumb, if the wind is blowing at a certain Beaufort force, multiply the depth by that same number to determine a long scope.

2 - Anchor Recovery:
It is generally best to avoid anchoring on rocky ground.
If you must do so, you should take precautions beforehand and attach a recovery line and buoy to the rear of the anchor.
If you anchored among rocks without any preparation and cannot retrieve the anchor, there is no perfect solution other than diving to free it.
If diving is not possible, you can try your recovery chances with the ULTRA Anchor Ring.

Rope Detail:
It might seem that the rope only needs to be strong enough to carry the ring's own weight, but it should be thicker so that a stuck anchor can be pulled free and so that it does not hurt or cut your hands while lowering or hauling it.
Accordingly, we recommend at least 8 mm for UAR27, 10 mm for UAR45, and 12 mm for UAR80.
The rope length should also be a little shorter than the depth. This prevents the ring from dragging on the bottom and wrapping around the chain.
The type of rope is not particularly important. If you already have a UL-D 40/130 reel at the bow, that is the most practical option to use with the ring as well. If needed, it is also possible to bring the stern reel rope forward and use it there.
If you prefer to use a completely separate rope, any rope of at least the diameter and length described above can be used.
